Learn to advocate for issues that matter to you and influence the leaders who will make decisions about those issues.
Students will learn what advocacy is and multiple strategies for advocacy at the state government level. They will learn how bills are proposed and the steps they go through to be considered and passed. Topics include how to prepare for outreach to your State Representative’s and State Senator’s offices, staff that you might speak with, and how to engage in a lobbying discussion with your legislator or staff member. Other forms of advocacy such as letter writing, submitting testimony, editorial letters, media campaigns and grass roots advocacy will also be discussed. This session will include a presentation and time for questions.
This session is hosted by League of Women Voters of Massachusetts.
