Jefferson, Madison, and the First Amendment

March 10 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

EST  | It’s an online-only event

Join the Bob and Marion Wilson Teacher Institute and Monticello during Civic Learning Week to explore the ideas and individuals that shaped the First Amendment. Learn how debates over the ratification of the U.S. Constitution and the ideas of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison resulted in our First Amendment rights of freedom of religion, speech, and expression. Participants will gain classroom-ready strategies and resources to help students connect these 18th-century debates and ideas to civic life today. Participants will receive 1.5 professional development hours for attending this session. For more information, please contact teacherdevelopment@cwf.org.
