“First Amendment: New York Times v. Sullivan” Teacher Workshop

Join the Leonore Annenberg Institute for Civics, Street Law, and the National Museum of American History to explore the relationship of the Civil Rights movement to New York Times v. Sullivan, a landmark 1964 freedom of the press Supreme Court case. Participants will: view Annenberg Classroom’s award-winning documentary; explore Street Law resources about the court case; discover American Democracy and Civil Rights artifacts; receive classroom-ready lesson plans and collaborate to integrate resources to customize for classroom use. Attendees will enjoy early access to museum exhibits as well as receive a free book about the case. Lunch and professional development hours will be provided.
