Civic Learning for a Stronger West Virginia

We are delighted to officially invite you to Civics Learning Week: Civic Learning for a Stronger West Virginia, hosted by the West Virginia Civics Coalition. For our third annual Civic Learning Week Event, we present a dynamic, inspiring, and truly memorable morning of civic learning at our State Capitol, and we would love for you to be part of it.

Where: West Virginia Supreme Court, State Capitol
When: Wednesday, March 11, 2026
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This event brings together educators, students, civic leaders, and community members who are passionate about strengthening democracy and civic education across our state. Attendees will experience a rich and engaging lineup of presentations and activities. And yes, attendees will enjoy a free lunch, too!

Participants will have the opportunity to engage with a robust range of presentations and experiences, including:

WV Legislative Policies
Teen Court
America 250 Celebration
WV Voting System
Listening Tour and Cords Program
Mock Appellate Court Argument
Black Policy
The 26th Amendment
We are honored to feature an outstanding group of presenters, including:

Supreme Court Justice Thomas Ewing

WV Secretary of State Kris Warner
Student Leaders Sarah McBee, Shelby Plants, Joshua Copley, and Maddox Davis

Dr. Shanequa Smith, Restorative Actions
In addition to presentations, attendees will be able to take part in in-person tours of the Supreme Court Learning Center and a voting machine demonstration.

If you are unable to attend in person, we highly encourage you to join via livestream through the Supreme Court’s YouTube channel or appellate courts webcast. Questions can also be submitted during the livestream by texting 304-437-5442.
