SUMMARY:2026 Civic Learning Week Legislative Breakfast
DESCRIPTION:America turns 250 this year. As we celebrate the past\, we also need to invest in the future.\n\nPlease join us for a free breakfast on Wednesday\, March 11 from 7-8 a.m. for a moderated panel of young people sharing what democracy needs to thrive – and what you can do to help them show up\, lead\, and stay engaged. \nYoung people see democracy more clearly than many adults realize. They see dysfunction\, partisanship gridlock\, and decisions made without them about the world they’ll inherit for the next 50 years. \nThe numbers prove it. Sixty-nine percent of young people see a nation more divided than ever. Only 11 percent believe the country is generally headed in the right direction. \nAdults often hear those numbers and diagnose youth disengagement. But that misreads what’s happening. Young people care deeply about their communities. They have thoughtful ideas about what could work better. They want to contribute in meaningful ways. \n\nWe don’t need to convince young people to care. We need to create clear\, accessible pathways that allow them to make a real and immediate impact. \nPlease join us for this important and inspiring conversation! \nDate: Wednesday\, March 11\, 2026\nTime: 7:00 am to 8:00 am (panel discussion will start at 7:30 a.m.)\nLocation: Sibley Room\, 2nd Floor\, Capitol Ridge Hotel (161 St. Anthony Avenue\, St Paul\, MN 55103). Easiest access is from the front entrance\, main lobby elevators. \nA complimentary breakfast buffet will be served. Parking lot payment codes will be provided to all attendees upon exit. \nQuestions? Contact Amy Anderson\, Executive Director\, YMCA Center for Youth Voice: amy.anderson@ymcamn.org / 612-330-3045
