DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to officially invite you to Civics Learning Week: Civic Learning for a Stronger West Virginia\, hosted by the West Virginia Civics Coalition. For our third annual Civic Learning Week Event\, we present a dynamic\, inspiring\, and truly memorable morning of civic learning at our State Capitol\, and we would love for you to be part of it. \nWhere: West Virginia Supreme Court\, State Capitol\nWhen: Wednesday\, March 11\, 2026\nTime: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. \nThis event brings together educators\, students\, civic leaders\, and community members who are passionate about strengthening democracy and civic education across our state. Attendees will experience a rich and engaging lineup of presentations and activities. And yes\, attendees will enjoy a free lunch\, too! \nParticipants will have the opportunity to engage with a robust range of presentations and experiences\, including: \nWV Legislative Policies\nTeen Court\nAmerica 250 Celebration\nWV Voting System\nListening Tour and Cords Program\nMock Appellate Court Argument\nBlack Policy\nThe 26th Amendment\nWe are honored to feature an outstanding group of presenters\, including: \nWV House Speaker Roger Hanshaw\nSupreme Court Justice Thomas Ewing\nGeorge and Martha Washington\nWV Secretary of State Kris Warner\nStudent Leaders Sarah McBee\, Shelby Plants\, Joshua Copley\, and Maddox Davis\nWoodrow Wilson High School Rho Kappa Chapter\nDr. Shanequa Smith\, Restorative Actions\nIn addition to presentations\, attendees will be able to take part in in-person tours of the Supreme Court Learning Center and a voting machine demonstration. \nIf you are unable to attend in person\, we highly encourage you to join via livestream through the Supreme Court’s YouTube channel or appellate courts webcast.
