SUMMARY:Women in Politics
DESCRIPTION:Join the USC Center for the Political Future’s Spring 2023 Fellow Martha Escutia in conversation with a prominent political leader (to be announced) discussing the role of women in politics and the challenges they face as leaders on Tuesday\, March 7 at 5:00 p.m. in Mudd Hall (MHP 203). \nDinner will be provided. This event is in celebration of national Civic Learning Week! \nMartha Escutia is a former State Senator from California and current Vice President for State Government Relations and Special Counsel at USC. Prior to joining USC\, Senator Escutia was in private practice as a founding partner of The Senators Firm and a partner in the national law firm of Manatt Phelps and Phillips. During her 14 year legislative career (1992-2006)\, Senator Escutia became the first woman to chair both the Assembly and Senate Judiciary Committees. The California Supreme Court honored her with its “Commitment to Justice” award for her exemplary service to the law and its citizens. \nMudd Hall is located on the southern edge of USC’s University Park campus. It is home to the USC Dornsife College of Letters\, Arts and Sciences’ School of Philosophy and the James Harmon Hoose Library of Philosophy.
