The Civic Implications of Safety in an Online World

We will review topics including bullying, privacy and reputation management, health information, social relationships, and aggression and violence. Fear and safety are issues of central importance for life in a democratic society, and law and policies as well as individual social responsibility are important in creating safe spaces.

Why Should You Attend? When people experience fear and anxiety, it affects all aspects of people’s lives. Learn about some of the health and safety issues that people face now when it comes to their use of mass media, social media and AI. Reflect on how fear and safety are issues of central importance for life in a democratic society. Create a personalized plan for increasing your feelings of safety and decreasing fear
