How can we prepare students to participate effectively in our democracy? In this session, we will discuss ways of promoting skills in media literacy and civil discourse that empower young people to engage with complex and controversial issues in productive ways, especially in the context of our upcoming national election. Co-facilitated by Education Development Center (EDC) and Facing History and Ourselves, this session will share teaching resources and incorporate teacher perspectives on how to build media literacy and civil discourse in the classroom.
