What experiences motivate people to become civically engaged? We interview two active millennials (born 1981-1996), who will reflect on how family, friends, communities, school and the twists and turns of post-college life have shaped their commitments to civic engagement: Andres Vargas path has taken him to Beacon Hill as State Representative for the 3rd Essex District (Haverhill). and Erin Ryan service life now manifests itself as a Massachusetts middle school social studies teacher. Interviewer Charles White, Executive Director of the Social Science Education Consortium, will highlight common and unique features of their journeys and how they reflect and inform current initiatives like EAD to improve civic learning outcomes.
