This year, we are excited to celebrate national Civic Learning Week (March 11-15, 2024) by launching the Civic Family Tree initiative – our new community civics project for elementary, middle, and high school students in schools across Metro Council District 8!
Starting on Monday, March 11th, students will be able download the submission form and guide for creating a visual representation (no larger than an 11×17 in. poster) of their personal “Civic Family Tree” that illustrates the seeds, roots, and branches of their civic life in our community.
During Civic Learning Week, our Metro Council Office will share examples of their own Civic Family Trees, and highlight the different seeds, roots, and branches that support and encourage us as active, civically engaged members of the community.
Students must submit their designs and submission forms to their schools by Friday, April 12th.
One (1) Civic Family Tree from each school in District 8 will be selected for display at Louisville Metro Hall, and selected students will be recognized with an official proclamation.
